Granulovacuolar Bodies of Simchowicz

Granulovacuolar bodies of Simchowicz are small vacuoles in hippocampal pyramidal neurons. Each vacuole measures about 4 micrometers in diameter and contains a dense hematoxylinophilic (blue-staining with the hematoxylin and eosin stain) central granule measuring about 1 micrometer in diameter. Neurons may contain one or many of these bodies.
